[live] the cat has no power
I've been thinking about if I should write this for a long time, and now I decide to do it. The 6/9 Cat Power live performance at the Wall, Taipei, is officially the most depressing concert I've ever been to.
I don't know if Ms. Cat Power was on drug or something, but she seems to be very unsecured on stage that day. From the beginning, you can sense that she treated the audiences as enemies, not fans or friends. She kept shouting on audience, such as "Hey you, the muscle man in T-shirt" or "You two, if you wanna chat, just leave" or anyone who was trying to take pictures of her, somethings like that. She would play a song and then just stop at nowhere, it happens to every single song, and then started rambling words I can hardly understand. I didn't hear she play any complete song that night. It was totally uncomfortable to the audience, at least it is to me. She asked audiences to leave after 20 minutes later when she entered the stage. Hey come on, who would pay $700 just to watch 20 minutes show? If you called that a "show". But unfortunately, it's indeed a good choice if I just left at that moment. Anyway, I left just before 12PM, I can't stand keeping wasting time and money, if I stay then I have to take a cab to go home, and I don't think Ms. Cat Power had earned that privilege to me.
Anyway, I would never showed up at Cat Power's show, even though I heard that the next day performance turned out to be a completely different story comparing to the 6/9 show. But to me, her records is better that her live performance.
PS. This title has been set at the moment when I stepped out of the Wall.
